Drinking History Tours

Drinking History Tours, the company behind Melbourne Laneway Tours, are quenching the thirst of visitors and Melburnians alike with their latest offering that’s part walking tour and part pub crawl.

From boozy bushrangers, feminist icons, Chinese gold miners and exclusive clubs, the tour combines the stories of the people that make Melbourne so unique with a few drink stops along the way at some of those hidden watering holes you’ve only read about.

Tours priced from $85 includes dinner and drink discounts, meeting at Federation Square and operating Wednesday nights and Saturday afternoons.

Thornbury Picture House

Converted from an old petrol station in the 1920s, Thornbury Picture House is a newly opened retro-style cinema and bar, reminding film-goers that going to the movies used to be about more than superheroes and sequels.

Complete with 1930s style vintage cinema seats and an interior lined with photographs from classic Hollywood films, the newest addition to Melbourne’s inner-north offers classy, boutique cinema experiences with a locally-infused menu that’s goes beyond choc-tops and popcorn.

The team behind American BBQ restaurant Fancy Hanks have thrown open the doors to Heroes, a four-level party palace that combines smoked Singaporean hawker food with pop-star dreams.

With a design inspired by the dystopic world of Blade Runner and full of 80s pop culture references, Melbourne’s newest Karaoke bar is the perfect pick for late night hangs with two floors of dedicated private dining and karaoke rooms.

Bomba Rooftop Bar

The perfect perch for after work drinks or a tapas fix, experience true inner-city Melbourne when Bomba Rooftop Bar re-opens this July.
