A whiskey bar-come-bookshop

/ 02 Nov 2016
Buck Mulligan’s sees the bohemian marriage of two of Melbourne’s hedonistic friends – literature and whiskey – in the form of a boutique whiskey bar, bookshop and cafe.

Since opening in the effortlessly hipster neighbourhood of Northcote in November 2016, Buck Mulligan’s epitomises the city’s entrepreneurial underbelly while playing to two of Melbourne’s divergent strengths: its bar and literary cultures.

The three-leafed ‘Irish Whiskey Bar and Irish Speciality Bookshop with Cafe’ aims to serve the largest selection of Irish whiskies in Melbourne – plus a heady offering of the very best whiskies from Scotland, Tasmania, Japan and the US – and bookshelves lined with Irish and Australian titles. In keeping with the Celtic theme, the cafe menu includes English style pork pies, black pudding and cheeseboards served until late. Whiskey tastings and book events are also catered for in a small ‘snug’.
