Ballarat becomes a winter wonderland

/ 30 May 2017

Ballarat turns into a winter wonderland from July 1 – 30, when the Ballarat Winter Festival returns for another year. Formerly known as the Ballarat Winterlude, the month-long festival showcases the very best in local music, while also illuminating the city with incredible light shows and art installations.

Designed to coincide with Sovereign Hill’s Winter Wonderlights program, the region will become a hub of exciting activities, perfect for those looking for a romantic evening away, or families in search of items to fill their school holidays to-do list. Visitors to the region are invited to hang around, and stay overnight to discover more of Ballarat’s offerings.

Whether its being captivated by the spectacular Joust of the Flame at Kryal Castle, roasting marshmallows at the Ballarat Wildlife Park or sitting back and sipping on some of the region’s top drops, winter in the Goldfields has something on offer for everyone.
