Described as mad, magnificent, marvellous and manic, the third month of year delivers an opportunity to embrace Victoria’s outstanding major events calendar each and every day.

From food, wine and fashion, to football, art and the theatre, there’s an experience to suit every taste and budget as summer draws to a close and locals and visitors alike embrace excitement alongside the more than 1.5 million ticket holders annually.

March 1
Evita, Arts Centre Melbourne

Set to depart Melbourne on 3 March after an extended run due to continued demand, the original Broadway and West End production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic musical Evita had its Australian premiere in September last year, directed by legendary Broadway director Hal Prince and starring Tina Arena.

Australian Fashion Summit, Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival

The inaugural Australian Fashion Summit has been created for the industry, by the industry to offer an all-day schedule of business discussions on Friday 8 March, International Women’s Day.

Bank of Melbourne World’s Longest Lunch, Melboune Food & Wine Festival

Karen Martini will lead an all-female chef line up at the Bank of Melbourne World’s Longest Lunch on March 8 to celebrate International Women’s Day.

To mark the start of the 2019 FIA Formula 1 World Championship, Melbourne will play host to the inaugural season launch event.

Hosted by Formula 1®, Federation Square will come alive with the free extravaganza as all 20 drivers, 10 Team Principals and with legends of the sport participate in the live stage show, bringing the heroes of Formula 1® to the public for the first time in the sport’s history.

Film lovers united for the Melbourne Queer Film Festival, with Matt Bomer to star in opening film, Papi Chulo.
