Artisans leading Ballarat new uprising

/ 05 Sep 2018
Ballarat will be transformed into a city-wide art gallery with the largest ever showcase of living Australian artists during the Biennale of Australian Art 2018 (BOAA) from 21 September to 6 November.

Located just 115 kilometres north west of Melbourne, the regional city will play host to 150 artists from across Australia, with each state and territory being equally represented, including local Ballarat artists.

BOAA ART 2018 will tell Australian stories; stories of our past, present and future, reflecting what it means to be Australian today with a strong Aboriginal focus, as well as celebrating our multiculturalism.

The six-week program of performance art projects, artist talks, live music and food and wine events will feature 65 curated solo exhibitions presented throughout three 'Art Villages' within 14 of Ballarat's heritage buildings and historic locations.

The contemporary art festival highlights the city’s latest uprising with local designers, artists, chefs, producers, craftspeople and entertainers leading a new rebellion to shake Ballarat’s perception of old, cold and gold.

A host of new and exciting products have made the historic city an indulgent weekend away.
